Former Golden Gophers linebacker Dwayne Mitchell has transferred to Division I-AA Nicholls State, according to the Colonels' website.
Mitchell, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker, redshirted at Minnesota in 2010 and appeared in just one game for coach Jerry Kill in 2011. A native of New Orleans, Mitchell attended Edna Karr High School before committing to the Gophers.
Nicholls State was 1-10 last season and 0-7 in Southland Conference play.
