Goodyear, Miss Coors Light raise over $3K for Support Our Troops
NASCAR is one of the most patriotic sports in America, with a huge military presence at nearly every single race of the season.
With that in mind, Goodyear is currently holding a series of auctions aimed at raising funds for Support Our Troops, an organization aimed at bolstering "the morale and well-being of our currently serving military members and their families."
The online auction -- which includes race-used sheet metal, tires and fire suits -- continues through July 31, but one item has already raised over $3,000 for the charity, the chance to shadow Miss Coors Light during the October Charlotte race weekend.
The package included the opportunity to accompany Miss Coors Light to all her appearances on race day, the chance to hang out at the Coors Light Party Deck, and much more.
The bidding began at $100, and when all was said and done, the final winning bid came in at $3,050.
"I am thrilled to be a part of this year's auction and I'm blown away by how much money we have raised for an amazing cause," Miss Coors Light, Rachel Rupert, said. "I say it all the time, NASCAR has the best fans and I have the best job in the world, so sharing those experiences with the lucky winner will be incredible. Of course we'll end the day with an ice cold Coors Light!"
The Goodyear Gives Back program has raised over $800,000 over the last four years "in cash and product to help the U.S. military and their families through Support Our Troops," according to the tire provider's web site.
This year, Goodyear will also match up to $50,000 of the funds raised by the auction, which features autographed items, Goodyear blimp rides and more.
