Go behind the scenes of Coyotes opening night with 'Countdown: Puck Drop'

Published Oct. 20, 2014 11:22 p.m. ET

Opening night always is filled with nerves and excitement, and FOX Sports Arizona captured all the emotions and moments leading up to when the puck hit the ice at Gila River Arena in the Arizona Coyotes 2014 opener.

FOX Sports Arizona will debut "Countdown: Puck Drop" immediately following Tuesday's game between the Coyotes and Nashville Predators (approximately 7:30 p.m.).

Everything from analyst Tyson Nash's day and the team's morning skate to the visit from NHL commissioner Gary Bettman was caught on camera in preparation for the big day.

"It's one of my favorite series because it captures the enthusiasm of a new season," FOX Sports Arizona producer Josh Kelman said. "Basically, everybody involved is about to embark on this six-month journey where they won't see their families a whole lot and you ride the emotional roller coaster of a season. But on that day, everything is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows everywhere."

Fans will get a look inside Nash's closet to see the plethora of unique suits he sports during broadcasts and get to see his toes, as FOX Sports Arizona went to Paulene Nails while Nash received a pedicure.

"Tyson Nash is just good TV. He's humble and self-deprecating and goofy but he also takes his job very seriously and loves being around the game and the players," Kelman said. "He was down for just about anything."

Viewers will gain a unique perspective on how everyone from the players, coaches, owner Anthony LeBlanc, FOX Sports Arizona's production team and the Coyotes game production staff prepared for the first game of the season on "Countdown: Puck Drop."

The show will re-air at 10 p.m. Tuesday and then 4 and 10 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

As only he can, Tyson Nash prepares for a new season in style.
