The buzz around this year's Milwaukee Bucks NBA Summer League team isn't quite as palpable as last year.
Everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of No. 2 overall draft pick Jabari Parker in 2014 (especially in the opening game when he played against top selection Andrew Wiggins), and while no doubt he'd be a star attraction again, he's not quite ready to take the court following his season-ending ACL injury.
However, the Bucks will have this year's top draft choice as well as a couple of other former picks on this year's summer league team.
Here's a quick breakdown of the players (in alphabetical order) on Milwaukee's roster:
CAMERON CLARK, F, 6-foot-6, 211 pounds: Played professionally last season with Italy's Vanoli Cremona, averaging 13 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Appeared in four games for the Clippers' summer team last year, averaging 7.5 points. Played four at Oklahoma. As a senior in 2013-14, averaged 15.6 points and 5.6 rebounds.
MICHAEL ERIC, F/C, 6-11, 240: Has professional experience most recently with Italy's Enel Brindisi (averaging 4.7 points and 3.9 rebounds last season) and Greece's Panelefsiniakos. Also has played for Canton and Texas of the D-League. Played on summer league teams for Cleveland, Golden State and Philadelphia. Milwaukee signed him in September 2014 but cut him just before the start of the season. Averaged 9 points and 8.8 rebounds as a senior at Temple in 2011-12.
JORGE GUTIERREZ, G, 6-3, 191: Looked to be odd man out on Bucks' roster, but trade of Zaza Pachulia has opened up a spot for someone. Of course, that also depends on if Milwaukee wants to keep another point guard, but Gutierrez perhaps has a leg up having appeared in 10 games for the Bucks last season (10.1 minutes per game) and playing for head coach Jason Kidd in Brooklyn as well.
DAMIEN INGLIS, F, 6-8, 225: There's no Parker around, but maybe all eyes should be on Inglis. Bucks GM John Hammond has said Inglis would have been a top-15 pick in the 2015 draft had he not made himself eligible the previous year. A broken ankle in workouts hurt his draft stock -- and eventually sidelined him for the entire season -- but Milwaukee felt it got a steal taking him at No. 31 overall in the 2014 draft. Like most of the young Bucks, Inglis has a large wingspan (7-3) and is known for his defense. DraftExpress.com noted Inglis "is one of a handful of 18-year-olds to see meaningful minutes in Pro A France over the past decade." Now we'll finally get to see how he does against NBA players.
KEVIN JONES, F, 6-8, 260: Played 32 games for Cleveland in 2012-13, averaging 10.4 minutes and 3.0 points. He has since played in the D-League, the Philippines and this past season in France, where he averaged 13.4 points and 7.5 rebounds. Played at West Virginia, where he averaged 19.9 points and 10.9 rebounds as a senior in 2011-12.
SEAN KILPATRICK, G, 6-4, 210: After four years at Cincinnati, played in the D-League last season for Santa Cruz and Delaware with a brief stop in Minnesota. He averaged 13.9 points in the D-League. At Cincinnati, he averaged 15.3 points, including 20.6 as a senior.
VIACHESLAV KRAVTSOV, C, 6-11, 254: Turns 28 in August (and amazingly is not the oldest player on the roster). Has plenty of professional experience. Played for Guangdong Foshan in China, averaging 16.1 points and 9.8 rebounds. Has appeared in 45 NBA games with Detroit and Phoenix. In 2008, NBADraft.net called him "one of the best prospects in Europe." In 2009, DraftExpress.com noted he had a 7-2 1/2 wingspan and standing reach of 9-3. Was previously a member of the Bucks organization -- albeit only briefly -- as he was obtained from the Pistons along with Brandon Knight and Khris Middleton in the Brandon Jennings trade. Two weeks later he was dealt to the Suns for Caron Butler.
McKENZIE MOORE, G, 6-6, 190: Was dismissed from UTEP during his junior season for gambling on games (but no point-shaving was accused). He was averaging a team-high 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists and made 37 percent of his 3s at the time of his dismissal. Played this past season in New Zealand, where he averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.7 blocks for the FICO Finance Nelson Giants of the NBL. He was eligible for the 2015 NBA Draft but was not selected.
JOHNNY O'BRYANT, F, 6-9, 265: Milwaukee's other second-round pick in 2014 played in 34 games for the Bucks with 15 starts this past season, averaging 2.9 points and 1.8 rebounds. Averaged 18.1 minutes in the summer league last year and could figure to see plenty of action as he still needs a lot of work on the offensive end.
JEROME RANDLE, G, 5-10, 172: The veteran of the group, he turned 28 in May. Played with Gutierrez at California (which is also the alma mater of head coach Jason Kidd) and was the PAC-10 Player of the Year in 2010. Has never played in the NBA other than in the preseason and summer league, but has pro experience in the D-League, Turkey, Belgium and China. Played for Turkey's Eskisehir Basket this past season, averaging 15.8 points and 5 assists.
DURAND SCOTT, G, 6-5, 203: Started four years at Miami and averaged 12.5 points and 4.3 rebounds. Has played in Spain and Israel and averaged 15.4 points for Hapoel Tel Aviv this past season. Scott has already signed to play for Italy's Enel Brindisi this upcoming season.
RASHAD VAUGHN, F, 6-6, 210: If not Inglis, then Vaughn will be the big curiosity in Vegas. Vaughn played just one season at UNLV, and even that was cut short when he tore the meniscus in his left knee in February. While he obviously looked good enough in pre-draft workouts for the Bucks to select him in the first round, he hasn't played competitively in five months. Vaughn averaged 17.8 points and 4.8 rebounds while making 38.3 percent of his 3s at UNLV.
