FSSD announces 2015-'16 College Basketball Schedule

Published Nov. 11, 2015 1:11 p.m. ET

SAN DIEGO -- FOX Sports San Diego (FSSD) today announced plans to broadcast seven local games within their college basketball schedule including the Dec. 5th University of San Diego vs. San Diego State matchup, which will be the first college basketball game to be played at Petco Park.

Long-time sports broadcaster Eddie Doucette returns this season to call play-by-play for five of the seven FOX Sports San Diego college basketball telecasts. Doucette will be accompanied by former USD Toreros head coach Brad Holland in the analyst slot. Special for the first two Aztec basketball games, former radio personality and current Sockers General Manager, Coach John Kentera will assume a second analyst position on the telecast.

New for the 2015-16 season, FOX Sports San Diego will debut a SDSU pre- and postgame show hosted by the Mighty 1090's radio host Scott Kaplan and former San Diego State standout D.J. Gay prior to and after the Nov. 18 and Nov. 21 games.

On Dec. 5, the Aztecs and Toreros will meet to face off during the Bill Walton Basketball Festival at Petco Park. The crosstown rivals will battle it out on an outdoor court to be built on the ballpark's infield near home plate at Petco Park. Former NESN play-by-play announcer and future Padres broadcaster, Don Orsillo will make his FOX Sports San Diego debut to call play-by-play for the outdoor matchup. Holland will assume the analyst role and former Torero J.T. Rogan will report from the sidelines. Additionally, Mike Pomeranz will serve as pre-postgame host.

SDSU is one of eight schools nationally to have reached the NCAAs six years in a row and one of nine programs in America to reach the Round of 32 three straight seasons. Overall, San Diego State finished 2014-15 with a 27-9 record (14-4 Mountain West), its 10th consecutive 20-win campaign and seventh straight with at least 23 victories.

The 2015-16 University of San Diego men's basketball team begins a new era with head coach Lamont Smith.  A 1998 USD alum and former Torero basketball player, Smith has two returners and seven letterwinners back from last year's 15-16 ball club.  He will look to senior center Jito Kok and senior wing Duda Sanadze to provide both leadership and experience for a youthful squad that has ten underclassmen.  Besides the return of junior center Brandon Perry and junior forward Brett Bailey, Smith is also excited with the three scholarship freshmen his staff has brought in.
