FOX Sports Sun to air 9.5 hours of Rays coverage for Opening Day
TAMPA, Fla. (April 1, 2016) -- As Tampa Bay prepares for the much-anticipated return of Rays baseball, FOX Sports Sun, the statewide television home of the Rays, is excited to announce its extended coverage of Rays Opening Day on Sunday, April 3rd. This year, fans can tune in on FOX Sports Sun starting at 1 p.m. for a full afternoon and evening of Rays' programming.
FOX Sports Sun's live coverage of Opening Day will start promptly at 3 p.m. with a special, one-hour pregame show from Tropicana Field. A broadcast team of seven will provide extensive analysis as Rays' broadcasters Dewayne Staats, Brian Anderson, Emily Austen, Orestes Destrade, Doug Waechter, Rich Hollenberg and Todd Kalas will all play a role. Todd , Orestes and Doug will anchor coverage from the FOX Sports Sun desk in left field, while Emily will be providing live updates from the Rays new Republic Bank Draft Room location in Tropicana Field.
Rays President of Baseball Operations Matthew Silverman and Rays Manager Kevin Cash are all scheduled to join to the broadcast during the pregame show, while Rays Owner Stuart Sternberg and Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred are scheduled to join Dewayne and Brian in the booth during the game.
