For just the second time in school history two Wisconsin Badgers players were selected in the first round of the NHL Draft.

The first Badgers freshman since Dany Heatley to lead the team in goals, Luke Kunin was selected by the Minnesota Wild with the 15th overall pick, while incoming freshman Trent Frederic went 29th overall to the Boston Bruins.

A standout rookie for the Badgers last season, Kunin scored nine goals and 32 points.

Defenseman JD Greenway (Toronto Maple Leafs) became the third Badger off the board in the third round, followed by Max Zimmer (pick 104, Carolina Hurricanes) and Philip Nybert (pick 129, Buffalo Sabres), completing the largest Badgers draft class since 2011.
