Ellenson, Marquette roll in exhibition versus VCSU

At Milwaukee, Marquette's men's basketball team made quick work of Valley City State in Monday's exhibition, winning 98-57 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Freshman forward Henry Ellenson paced the Golden Eagles, filling the stat sheet to the tune of 16 points, 17 rebounds and five assists. He did not commit a turnover all game, either.

Sophomore Sandy Cohen also greatly aided the Marquette cause, adding 16 points. Freshman guard Haanif Cheatham chipped in with 15 points.

Ellwood Ellenson, a junior forward for the Vikings and the brother of Marquette's Henry and Wally Ellenson, produced five points and five rebounds.

The Golden Eagles shot a sizzling 78.6 percent from the field in the second half (22 of 28).

Marquette led 43-31 at the half and was never seriously threatened.

The Golden Eagles open regular-season play on Friday, against Belmont at home. That game starts at 8 p.m. The game, which is part of the Legends Classic, will be televised by FOX Sports Wisconsin.
