Ducks' Perry on knee injury: 'I don't think it's anything too serious'

Corey Perry has a knee injury that will be re-evaluated when the team returns to Anaheim, the Ducks announced Saturday. The extent of the injury is unknown.

Perry, speaking with reporters Saturday, said he didn't believe the injury -- sustained on a hip check by Minnesota's Keith Ballard on Friday -- was serious.

"I don't think so," Perry told reporters. "We'll take some time, let it go. I don't think it's anything too serious."

The Ducks (17-6-5), who have been plagued by injuries, hope it's not serious. Perry already had a case of the mumps, along with teammate Francois Beauchemin, and had returned to the ice. This is the latest setback for the alternate captain.

Perry is the team's leading goal-scorer with 14 and is second on the team in points with 22.

Perry had to be helped off the ice on Friday during the first period, and the Ducks won, 5-4. The site of Perry -- instrumental for the Ducks -- was unnerving to be say the least.

"I saw it (coming). I had nowhere to go," Perry said. "It's one of those things where I really had no real estate."

Anaheim -- who leads the Pacific Division -- plays at Winnipeg on Sunday before returning home. The Ducks' next home game is against Edmonton on Wednesday.

The Ducks have recalled winger Rickard Rakell from Norfolk, Va.
