Diamondbacks don't offer contracts to Castillo, De La Rosa

The Diamondbacks are suddenly in the market for a starting catcher after opting not to tender a contract offer to starter Welington Castillo, making him a free agent.
The D-backs also opted against a contract offer to pitcher Rubby De La Rosa, who was shut down for most of the 2016 season with an elbow injury and whose health for next season remains a major question mark.
Castillo, 29, acquired from the Seattle Mariners in the Mark Trumbo deal in June of 2015 season, hit .264 with 14 home runs in 113 games last season -- but he did not grade out well in defensive metrics. He hit .255 with 17 home runs in 80 games with the D-backs in 2015. He was paid $3.7 million in 2016 and was third-year arbitration eligible for next season.
De La Rosa, 27, was 18-14 with a 4.59 ERA in 45 games (42 starts) for the D-backs over the past two seasons. He made only 10 starts last year before being sidelined with a forearm injury. He was paid $2.35 million last year and was second-year arbitration eligible in 2017.
