DeidreÂ Pujols gives birth to daughter

Albert Pujols’ summer just got a little bit better.

Pujols’ wife Deidre gave birth to the couple’s fifth child, a daughter, at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the Los Angeles Angels announced.

Daughter Esther Grace weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 19 inches long.

Deidre Pujols gave birth in Kansas City, just more than a four-hour
drive from St. Louis, where the family makes its offseason home. The
Angels were in Kansas City for a three-game series against the Royals
that concluded Sunday.

Pujols attended the birth, which followed the Angels’ 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Saturday, and was back at the ballpark in time for Sunday’s series finale, in which he was the designated hitter as the Angels won 4-3.

The Pujolses have four other children: Isabella, Sophia, Alberto Jr. and Ezra.
