FOX Sports South announced Wednesday that former Atlanta Braves great and two-time National League MVP Dale Murphy will join play-by-play announcer Chip Caray and analyst Joe Simpson for a minimum of 14 telecasts on FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Carolinas and FOX Sports Tennessee, SportSouth and Peachtree TV during the 2012 Major League Baseball season.

"Dale Murphy is one of the most beloved figures in Braves history,'' said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports South and SportSouth. "With consecutive National League MVP Awards, seven All Star selections, five Gold Gloves, and 398 career home runs, Murphy was the face of 'America’s Team' in the 1980s, and one of the most preeminent players of the decade.  Murphy brings to the booth incredible insight on the game of baseball and great knowledge of the Braves organization, as well as his trademark charisma and stellar reputation for being one of the all-time 'good guys' in professional sports.''

"Dale Murphy contributed so much as an elite player to Braves history and now Braves fans can enjoy him sharing excellent insight and analysis of our games,'' said  Braves President John Schuerholz.  "We are delighted to have Dale accept a more involved role with our Braves telecasts and with FOX Sports South.''

Murphy was drafted by the Braves as the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 1974 First-Year Player Draft.  The 1982 and 1983 National League MVP received the National League's Silver Slugger Award four straight years (1982–85), the National League's Gold Glove award five straight years (1982–86), and was the recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award in 1988, given annually to the player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement, and contribution to his team.
