LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) A member of Croatia's 2012 Olympic champion men's water polo team has been banned for four years for a doping violation.
FINA says its doping panel ruled Niksa Dobud evaded giving a sample at his home in Dubrovnik.
In its ruling, the panel was ''unimpressed to say the least'' that Dobud changed his version of events during the case, and tried to discredit a doping control officer.
Dobud gave a negative sample after a World League match in Montenegro in March, then did not give a sample the next day at his apartment.
The three-time world championships bronze medalist later said he had been sleeping in a neighboring apartment.
Dobud's ban expires in April 2019.
He can appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
