ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues announced Tuesday that they signed forward William Carrier to an entry-level contract.

The Blues drafted Carrier, 18, in the second round (57th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He is a 6-foot-2, 198-pound forward.

Carrier, a native of La Salle, Quebec, has spent the past three seasons with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last season he led the club with 42 points (16 goals, 26 assists) in 34 games. An assistant captain, he also had 41 penalty minutes. He was Cape Breton's lone representative at the 2012 Canadian Hockey League Canada-Russia Super Series, appearing in two games.

In 2011-12, Carrier finished second on the team with 70 points (27 goals, 43 assists) to go along with 65 penalty minutes in 66 games.  Carrier also helped Team Canada earn the bronze medal at the 2012 Under-18 World Championship, dressing in all seven games.
