Blues invite defenseman Stu Bickel to training camp

Defenseman Stu Bickel, who played nine games with the Minnesota Wild last season, has been invited to St. Louis Blues training camp on a professional try-out basis.

Bickel, 28, spent most of last season with the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild, posting 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and 93 penalty minutes in 43 regular-season games. The 6-foot-4, 207-pound defenseman tallied one assist and 46 penalty minutes in his nine games with Minnesota.

Overall, the Chanhassen, Minnesota, native has played in 76 career NHL regular-season games, including stints with the New York Rangers and Minnesota, accumulating 10 assists and 203 penalty minutes. Bickel has also made 18 career postseason appearances, serving 16 penalty minutes.

The Blues also announced Wednesday that the club released Noah Bushnell, Macoy Erkamps, Gabriel Fontaine, Trent Fox, Mathieu Lemay, Liam Murray, Darren Raddysh and Carson Stadnyk, all of whom were on amateur try-outs at the Traverse City prospects tournament last weekend.
