CLEMSON, S.C. -- Apparently, Vic Beasley didn't want to share the spotlight for longer than 20 minutes of game-time action.
On Saturday against Louisville, the defensive end broke Clemson's all-time sacks record (29) -- surpassing the collegiate output of Michael Dean Perry (1985-88) and Gaines Adams (2002-06).
To clinch the record, Beasley stifled Cardinals QB Reggie Bonnafon for a simple 3-yard sack in the second quarter. But that tackle-for-loss helped kill a Louisville drive that started with some promise.
For his final college season, Beasley (6-foot-3, 235 pounds) has already tallied eight sacks through five-plus games. As such, the Adairsville, Ga. native has a chance to put great distance between himself and Perry, Adams ... and whomever might challenge his Clemson record in the future.
