Badgers hold steady at No. 6 in latest CFB Playoff rankings

The Wisconsin Badgers have one more chance to show the College Football Playoff selection committee they belong.
Wisconsin held steady at No. 6 in the latest rankings Tuesday heading into the Big Ten title game against No. 7-ranked Penn State.
The Badgers and the Nittany Lions square off in Indianapolis on Saturday.
Big Ten rival Ohio State stayed at second in the rankings, putting the Buckeyes in position to become the first team to be selected to the final four without winning its conference.
The second-to-last rankings were released Tuesday night and Alabama was No. 1, followed by Ohio State, Clemson and Washington. The Crimson Tide, Tigers and Huskies all play conference championship games this weekend and presumably would be in good shape to make the playoff if they win. The final rankings and playoff pairings will be released Sunday.
Michigan dropped to five after losing to Ohio State.
The Badgers have made steady progress since the rankings were first released, entering at No. 8, before eventually improving to No. 6, but they'll likely need help to make the playoff.
No. 3 Clemson takes on No. 23 Virginia Tech for the ACC title, while No. 4 Washington will face No. 9-ranked Colorado in the Pac-12 championship.
