Badgers force OT but fall to Northern Michigan
Down two goals in the third period, the No. 5/6 Wisconsin Badgers rallied to tie the game but went on to lose in overtime, 5-4 to Northern Michigan.
NMU's Denver Pierce scored a goal with 17.1 seconds left on the clock to upset the Badgers.
Seamus Malone and Jason Ford each notched a goal for the Badgers, and sophomore Trent Frederic lit the lamp twice, including the game-tying score with 2:15 to play in the third period.
“We were pretty sloppy tonight," head coach Tony Granato said. "Special teams were kind of an indicator of how the game was played for us tonight, and we weren’t very smart. I give them credit; we watched them play three games. They look good and they play hard."
Wisconsin will look for revenge Saturday night at 5 p.m. at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wis.
