Arizona ranked in both polls for first time since 2007
NEW YORK (AP) -- Ohio State, the lone remaining unbeaten team, was a unanimous No. 1 in Monday's men's college basketball poll by The Associated Press, while Arizona entered the poll at No. 21.
The Buckeyes were one of three top 10 teams not to lose last week, and they received all the first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel. It's Ohio State's third straight week at No. 1.
The Wildcats were ranked 22nd in this week's ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll, marking their first simultaneous appearance in both national
polls since Dec. 31, 2007, when UA was ranked 21st by both the media
and the coaches.
Kansas and Texas were the only other top-10 teams to escape last week without a loss, and they jumped four places to second and third, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 are Pittsburgh, Duke, Connecticut, San Diego State, BYU, Notre Dame and Kentucky.
Arizona was ranked 25th in the coaches' poll on Jan. 17 but dropped out after a loss to Washington. The return to the Associated Press poll is a welcome one for the Wildcats, who have been ranked in 78.8 percent (309 of 392 weeks) of those polls in the last 24 seasons.
