CLEVELAND (AP) -- Sandy Alomar Jr. is interviewing with the Cleveland Indians for their manager's job.
Alomar, who served as the Indians' interim manager for the final six games this season after Manny Acta was fired, has been meeting for several hours with general manager Chris Antonetti at the team's executive offices at Progressive Field. Alomar, a six-time All-Star catcher with Cleveland, served as Acta's bench coach this season. Other than his six-game stint as Acta's temporary replacement, Alomar has not managed at any level.
On Friday, former Red Sox manager Terry Francona will interview with the Indians. Francona, who led Boston to World Series titles in 2004 and 2007, previously worked in Cleveland's front office and said he would welcome the chance to work for the team again.
Francona and Alomar are the only known candidates for Cleveland's opening.
