3-time gold medalist Misty May-Treanor has baby

Three-time Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist Misty-May Treanor has given birth to her first child, a daughter named Malia.

May-Treanor announced on her Facebook page that the baby was born last week. She also posted a picture of her husband, former major league baseball player Matt Treanor, holding his newborn daughter.

''We were so blessed to welcome this little lady in to the world June 3,'' she wrote. ''Let the adventures begin!!!!!''

May-Treanor won gold medals in Athens, Beijing and London with partner Kerri Walsh Jennings before retiring from the sport to start a family.

Matt Treanor played nine seasons in the majors, mostly as a backup catcher, before retiring this spring.
