2015 MLB Draft: Where did local players end up after Day 1?
UC Santa Barbara RHP Dillon Tate; Rangers (1st Round, 4th Overall) A product of the Urban Youth Academy in Compton, the Claremont High alum had 12 saves as the closer for UCSB in 2014. In 2015, he was the team's Friday starter. His 0.91 WHIP was in the top-20 in the nation. It was a history making year for Tate, who was the first Golden Spikes Award semifinalist in UCSB history and, as first round draft selection, is the highest draft pick in school history.

College of Southern Nevada RHP Phil Bickford; Giants (1st Round, 18th Overall The former Oaks Christian stud was selected No. 10 overall by the Blue Jays two years ago. Bickford was 9-1 with a 1.45 ERA for CSN in 2015, the same school that produced Nationals star Bryce Harper.

San Dimas RHP Peter Lambert; Rockies (2nd Round, 44th Overall) San Dimas' bid at a national championship came up just short but it wasn't because of Lambert. The UCLA commit was 13-0 with a 0.34 ERA in 2015. He struck out 113 in 83 innings.

He led the team in hits and was tied for the team lead with seven home runs while starting all 61 games.
