Zach Parise has been named captain of the US Olympic Men's Hockey team, USA Hockey has announced.

Fellow Wild Ryan Suter has been named alternate captain alongside Dustin Brown of the Los Angeles Kings.

"It's a special thing to be named captain of any team, but when it's an Olympic team it's extra special," Parise said through a USA Hockey tweet.

Parise is also in his second season as alternate captain of the Minnesota Wild.

"Parise has work ethic that never quits, a determination to be hard to play against always, regardless of score or situation," said coach Dan Blysma.

The US men's hockey team plays their first Olympic game against Slovakia on Feb. 13.
