He may not have been named captain of the Russian ice hockey team but Alex Ovechkin says he's excited to return home for the Olympics.

Ovechkin sat down for an interview with Carson Daly on the "Today Show" on Monday and addressed safety concerns at the game. He said he doesn't think it will be dangerous and that he thinks Russian President Vladimir Putin has "some secret stuff" up his sleeve.

Ovechkin also talked about the honor of having the Olympic games in his home country, the pressure to win a medal and having a mother who is an Olympian.
