With his Buffalo Bills set to face his former team the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, LeSean McCoy again found himself discussing an insinuation he made during the offseason that Chip Kelly is a racist. Not only did he not shy away from what he arguably implied, he said he never really said it in the first place.

McCoy made waves when he said after he was traded by the Eagles to the Bills that Chip Kelly got rid of “all the good black players” on the team.

When pressed again on the topic during an interview on Philly’s 94 WIP radio, McCoy stuck by what he said while simultaneously attempting to alter the narrative.

“Some things you may say from anger, and I was definitely angry, but I’m not going to change anything I say,” McCoy said, via NJ.com. “I stand by everything I said before. I don’t have no problems with Chip or nothing like that. No hatred. But I stand by it. I don’t take it back.”

He went on to specifically dispute that he truly in fact called Kelly a racist.

“I’m not going to make it a racist thing, a black or white thing. I’m not going to get into that topic. It’s old. It is what it is,” he said. “People want to take it that way, they can. If you really know me, you know who I am. I embrace all people and all colors….I’m just honest. If they want to take it that way, that’s fine.”

When confronted with his actual quote, McCoy nevertheless refused to say he regretted making the comments, saying he had reasons for saying what he said and the difference between himself and other players is he is willing to speak his mind.

McCoy previously has gotten testy with the media over questions concerning his comments about Kelly, so it’s interesting he chose to discuss them at length this week. He has also taken other shots at his former head coach since the trade.

In other words, McCoy obviously still has issues with Kelly in some way, shape or form.
