Who needs turnaround after Daytona?
We all know that when you go to Daytona and Talladega, those are places that can always be a game-changer type race.
It was no different last Saturday night in Daytona Beach. Kurt Busch now finds himself in the Top 10 in points for the first time. Tony Stewart also leap-frogged back into the Top 10 and stopped his recent slide.
Saturday night's wreck was literally and figuratively a big hit for Kasey Kahne and the No. 5 car. Yes he still holds one of the two Wild-Card spots for now, but dropped another position to 12th in the points. This group simply has to get things turned around.
Joey Logano was another who came out of Daytona hurting. That young man had fought and clawed his way from 19th to 10th in points entering last Saturday night’s race. Unfortunately a 40th-place finish drops him from the 10th spot to 15th and unfortunately still searching for a win. So that was a pretty big hit on him.
Jeff Gordon also had worked his way to within a point or two of the Top 10, but got caught up in a wreck Saturday night and finishes 34th. It dropped him two points to 14th overall in the points. Jeff knows this, as does the team, he has to win a race if the No. 24 wants to have a shot at even making the Chase through a Wild-Card spot.
