Uncertain weather scenario threatens NASCAR's championship weekend

Published Nov. 20, 2015 9:21 a.m. ET

There's a four-letter word all NASCAR fans hate, but unfortunately they likely will be hearing it a lot this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway: Rain.

With Ford Championship Weekend here at the South Florida track and titles to be settled in all three of NASCAR's national series, the weekend forecast is dicey, at best.

According to weather.com, Friday's forecast is for scattered afternoon showers, with a 40 percent chance of rain. The good news is that the likelihood of rain drops to 10 percent at 5 p.m., which means NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying should get in as scheduled at 6:15 p.m. and Friday night's Ford EcoBoost 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race also ought to be good to go.

The forecast worsens over the weekend, with a 60 percent chance of rain on both Saturday and Sunday. Monday, there is only a 10 percent probability of precipitation.

Given that this is South Florida, rain showers frequently come and go. FOXSports.com will keep a close eye on the weather conditions this weekend and will update information as it becomes available.
