Darren Turner will replace Dan Wheldon in the V8 Supercars Gold Coast 600 this weekend at Queensland Raceway in Australia.

Wheldon was killed Sunday in a 15-car accident in the IndyCar season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The two-time Indianapolis 500 champion was one of six IndyCar drivers committed to running at Queensland.

Will Power withdrew after injuring his back in the accident Sunday. Tony Kanaan cited Wheldon's death as reason for pulling out of the event.

Ryan Briscoe, Helio Castroneves and Alex Tagliani still plan to race and left Monday evening for Australia.

Wheldon was scheduled to team with Supercars champion James Courtney in the three-day event.

The field also includes eight drivers with Formula 1 experience, including current F1 driver Tonio Liuzzi, five-time Le Mans champion Emanuele Pirro and Indianapolis 500 winner Gil de Ferran.
