Sonoma Raceway extends partnership with Save Mart Supermarkets

Sonoma Raceway officials announced Friday the track has extended its partnership with Save Mart Supermarkets for an additional five years. The extended partnership will make Save Mart the co-title sponsor of the annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the 11-turn road course through the 2020 season.
"Our relationship with Sonoma Raceway has become part of the Save Mart culture. We're thrilled to extend this tradition for several years to come," said Nicole Pesco, co-president and chief strategy and branding officer of Save Mart.
The partnership between Sonoma Raceway and Save Mart Supermarkets goes back to the 1992 season.
Bob Piccinini, the former chairman and CEO of Save Marts, was also honored Friday morning as the track unveiled a moment in the corner of Turn 11 Lawn, which has been renamed the Piccinini Plaza. Piccinini was a major part of the initial partnership between Save Mart and Sonoma Raceway and passed away earlier this year.
"This partnership has evolved and grown in so many ways over the years, but it still boils down to both companies delivering consistent value to NASCAR fans, grocery shoppers and to the outstanding team of Save Mart, Lucky and FoodMaxx employees," said Steve Page, Sonoma Raceway president and general manager. "We are dedicating this season to Bob Piccinini with whom this partnership originated, and we look forward to carrying Bob's legacy forward in the years to come."
