Short track at Bristol could cure what ails some struggling teams
We are seven races into the 2015 season and this weekend we are at Bristol Motor Speedway. What's interesting if you think about it is this track isn't relative to any other track we've been to so far this season. So it is basically a clean sheet of paper for these teams this weekend.
This might be the place where some of these teams we've mentioned lately who are struggling might be able to rise to the top for a change. For example, if you go back one year ago to this spring race, Roush Fenway Racing took the top two spots with Carl Edwards winning and teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. having his career-best finish of second.
If you look at Joe Gibbs Racing, all of their drivers run well there, especially their newest addition who I just mentioned, Carl Edwards. So my point is that even though some of the teams might be at the lowest of lows or struggling to keep up, Bristol Motor Speedway might be just what the doctor ordered.
With that said, I think you'll still see the same guys up front vying for the win. You can expect the Team Penske Fords and the Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets to be strong Sunday. Like every short track we go to, qualifying will be extremely important. Not only does qualifying well give you a good starting spot but you also have a better pit location.
I know that people continue to question the racing at Bristol, but for me I've always loved Bristol. I love seeing side-by-side racing and we have that right now. So I'm expecting a great race this Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway!
