Scott Zipadelli named crew chief for Ben Kennedy at Red Horse Racing
Red Horse Racing has announced that veteran crew chief Scott Zipadelli will be the crew chief for newcomer Ben Kennedy's No. 11 Toyota Tundra team in the upcoming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.
Kennedy, the great-grandson of NASCAR founder William H.G. "Big Bill" France and the son of International Speedway Corp. chief executive officer Lesa France Kennedy, was hired by Red Horse in December after spending his rookie truck season at Turner Scott Motorsports, where he posted seven top-10 finishes and finished ninth in the final standings on the way to earning rookie-of-the-year honors.
The 22-year-old nephew of NASCAR chairman Brian France made his truck debut with a five-race schedule in 2013. His best career finish to date is a third-place finish recorded last spring at Martinsville Speedway.
"Red Horse Racing is a well-respected organization that has had a lot of success in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and I am very excited to be a part of it," said Zipadelli. "Ben is a talented driver, and I have high expectations for him and the No. 11 team. He had an outstanding rookie season, and our goal this year is to win races and put ourselves in position to contend for the 2015 championship."
Zipadelli has been a crew chief since 2007, leading 17 drivers to three wins, 32 top fives, 86 top-10 finishes and two poles in the Nationwide Series.
"Scott Zipadelli has great experience on top of the pit box and brings a lot to the program," Kennedy said. "I am really looking forward to working with him and can't wait to unload our No. 11 Toyota Tundra at Daytona in February."
Zipadelli spent last season as a Nationwide crew chief at Turner Scott Motorsports, where he guided Kyle Larson to two wins, one pole and an average finish of 8.4 in Larson's limited schedule.
