Sadler loses points with penalty

Published May. 22, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Elliott Sadler's team has been penalized for a rules infraction discovered in postrace inspection at Iowa Speedway on Sunday.

Sadler's No. 2 Chevrolet did not conform to body height requirements, as the "car failed to meet the minimum rear car heights," according to a NASCAR release.

Crew chief Luke Lambert has been fined $10,000, and owner DeLana Harvick and driver Elliott Sadler have been penalized six championship owner points and six championship driver points, respectively.

Sadler is second in the Nationwide Series standings to Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who now has a 34-point lead.
