'Rowdy' Busch rumbles to Truck Series pole at Kansas
Kyle Busch, who has wrecked in the last three Sprint Cup Series races at Kansas Speedway, is not exactly a huge fan of the 1.5-mile track.
Friday's knockout qualifying session should endear Busch to the facility a little more, however.
Busch, driving a Toyota for his Kyle Busch Motorsports team, won the pole over Brad Keselowski Racing's Ryan Blaney and ThorSport Racing's Johnny Sauter. Brian Ickler and Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano completed the top five in the third and final qualifying round.
The pole was Busch's 13th in NASCAR's No. 3 division.
Ben Kennedy, the great-grandson of NASCAR founder William H.G. "Big Bill" France, broke loose and slapped the wall with the right side of his Turner Scott Motorsports Chevrolet in the opening minutes of Round One.
Kennedy, who is sixth in the series standings, will go to a backup truck.
