Renault says Jean-Michel Jalinier will take over as president of its Formula One team next year.

Jalinier will replace Bernard Rey on Jan. 1 as head of the team, which will change its name to Lotus for the 2012 season.

Jalinier joined Renault in 1985 and will oversee the strategic operations of the F1 outfit. He became director general of Renault Russia in 2003 and president of Renault do Brasil in 2009.

Rey became president of Renault F1 in 2007, helping the French manufacturer regain a leading role as an engine manufacturer in the sport.
