Remembering 'Groundhog Day' at Michigan International Speedway

Remember that time back in June when NASCAR XFINITY Series practice at Michigan International Speedway got delayed by 15 minutes -- by a groundhog?
That's right. A groundhog.
The furry little guy got loose on the backstretch at the 2-mile track and ran around and around and around, forcing a bevy of track workers to pursue and attempt to subdue him.
Caught once in a small bucket, the groundhog made a nifty escape and took off down the backstretch again, dodging under the pickup trucks track workers had driven to the scene.
Just like in the Bill Murray movie, "Groundhog Day," the same thing seemed to keep happening over and over and over again every time an attempt was made to capture the creature.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the groundhog was caught in a bigger bucket and released unharmed outside the track.
It was one of those strange moments you have a couple of times a year at race tracks, but at least it had a happy ending. It also was one of @TheBuzzer Daryl Motte's favorite moments, which he has been counting down this holiday season. Check out the video above.
