Pit-road troubles strike early for Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin

Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin came into the Hellman’s 500 at Talladega Superspeedway with no margin for error if they wanted to advance to the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Round of 8.

But in the first round of green-flag pit stops on Laps 38 and 39, the two made critical mistakes that could cost them dearly in their hopes to advance.

Hamlin was caught speeding on pit road for the ninth time this year, while Logano left pit road with the jack still underneath the left side of his Team Penske Ford.

The race is still early, but these two stars are already in a big hole.
