No retro colors for Jeff Gordon at Darlington Raceway
While the majority of NASCAR teams are going retro with their paint schemes for this weekend's Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, one car that will not have throwback colors is the No. 24 Chevrolet of Jeff Gordon.
The four-time Sprint Cup Series champion brought out the iconic rainbow colors for the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, but it is back to the 3M paint scheme for Sunday night's race.
Gordon sent out a tweet Thursday morning putting an end to speculation and announcing there would be no throwback fun for the Hendrick Motorsports driver.
I understand everyone's bummed #24 won't have a throwback design @TooToughToTame. Timing & right scheme didn't work out for this weekend.

At least fans were able to see the iconic rainbow colors on the track once before Gordon hangs up the helmet for good at the end of the 2015 season. As for Darlington, there will be plenty of other retro paint schemes to keep the fans happy.
