NASCAR partners with Hispanic actor William Levy for new television series

A new NASCAR-themed docuseries focusing on Hispanic drivers is in the works with the help of Cuban-born actor William Levy.

NASCAR Productions' Entertainment and Marketing division has partnered with Levy, a Telenova actor, and Gladys Gonzalaz to produce the non-scripted show that will follow the drivers and document the challenges of trying to make it in NASCAR.

According to deadline.com, the series will be pitched to networks in February.

"I'm truly thrilled about partnering with NASCAR and I can't wait to show my fans worldwide this creative endeavor," said Levy.

NASCAR's attempts at bringing in new and diverse fans has been among their top priorities over the past few years, with extra emphasis placed on the Drive for Diversity Program and NASCAR Mexico Toyota racing series.

"Our goal is to produce original TV, film and digital projects that highlight some of the most compelling stories in NASCAR," Zane Stoddard, VP Entertainment Marketing and Content Development at NASCAR, said. "We are excited about the opportunity to partner with William Levy and his team on a project we believe both sports and nonsports fans alike will enjoy."

Levy stars in Triunfo Del Amor, and has appeared in the film Addicted and is slated to star in the upcoming movie Term Life alongside Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau.
