NASCAR Fantasy Picks: Chicagoland Speedway
NASCAR fantasy racing is headed to Chicagoland Speedway for the first race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Qualifying for the Teenage Ninja Turtles 400 was cancelled due to rain, meaning the field will be set by NASCAR owner points. Use this guide to help complete your fantasy racing team.
Penske Duo
Last weekend it was the Toyotas at Richmond. This weekend, it could be the Team Penske Fords that steal the spotlight.
Brad Keselowski has two wins in his last four starts and has four top-tens in all of those races. The only other driver who has four top-tens is Kyle Busch. Keselowski is the fourth highest priced driver and is also averaging the fourth highest fantasy points per race. If he can stay clear of Kyle Busch in turn one, all should be good.
Joey Logano has finished seventh or better in three of his last four races at Chicagoland, and has run well on the intermediate race tracks this season. Logano is the fifth highest priced driver but brings home the sixth most fantasy points on average. Logano has flown under the radar as he enters the Chase, which may be a good thing considering this 2015 Chase.
Jimmie Johnson
Last year’s race for Jimmie Johnson was a little more remembered for off-track activity than on on-track. Johnson had an eventful race last year at Chicagoland Speedway.
While battling Kevin Harvick for position, the two made contact, resulting in a cut tire for Harvick and ending his day.Harvick was not pleased and after the race made sure to show Johnson his displeasure.
Now back to Johnson. All we have to go off currently are the practice speeds since qualifying was cancelled. Johnson topped the charts in the first practice and in the second practice, only trailed Kevin Harvick in the ten -lap average chart.
Johnson has not finished worse than 12th in his last four starts at Chicagoland and has shown speed this weekend to make him a contender for the race win.

Pick two from JGR and one Chase sleeper
All four Joe Gibbs Racing drivers have average finishes of 14.0 or better in the last four races at Chicagoland Speedway. For a mega team in NASCAR, even that is impressive. Not to mention, the JGR bunch, including Martin Truex, have won 12 of the 26 races so far this season.
Denny Hamlin enters the Chase with momentum, Kyle Busch enters as the defending champion, making them both strong fantasy racing picks. On the other hand, Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards are the two lower priced drivers out of the JGR shop and could provide an extra spark to your team.
Jamie McMurray might be the best Chase sleeper to roster at Chicagoland Speedway. McMurray is averaging 32.5 fantasy racing points at just $7,800 of roster space. McMurray has led laps in three of his last four races at Chicagoland and has finishes inside the top-20 in three of his last four races. As the lowest Chase driver outside of Chris Buescher, McMurray provides a low-risk, high-reward option for this weekend.
