Matt Kenseth leads as rain brings out red flag at Bristol
Matt Kenseth leads the Food City 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway, which is under a red flag for rain with 124 laps complete.
Turn to FOX Sports 1 for live coverage of the Food City 500 if the race resumes tonight. If delayed until Monday, the race will air beginning at noon ET on FOX.
Kenseth's Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota took the lead on Lap 98 and stayed there. With the track under delay, Kenseth leads Jamie McMurray, Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Danica Patrick is 23rd.
Denny Hamlin started from the pole, but on Lap 2, Keselowski moved into the lead and by Lap 5 his teammate Joey Logano was second in the other Penske Ford.
NASCAR threw a competition caution on Lap 50, which proved to be eventful. Jimmie Johnson took left-side tires only and emerged with the lead, while teammate Jeff Gordon made contact with David Ragan on pit road and fell from third to 35th.
Johnson's shot at victory ended on Lap 114, when he blew his right-front tire and had to pit for fresh rubber, going three laps down. At roughly the same time, Logano, another expected contender, lost his power steering and fell off the lead lap.
Rain, which was forecast for the entire day, returned on Lap 118, bringing out first another yellow and then the red flag on Lap 124.
