Kyle Busch, Danica Patrick fined and placed on probation for actions at Fontana
NASCAR has fined drivers Danica Patrick and Kyle Busch for behavioral violations last week at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California.
Patrick was fined $20,000 and put on probation for the next four races for going onto the track to confront Kasey Kahne after he wrecked her accidentally in the Auto Club 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
NASCAR ruled that Patrick violated Sections 12-1; 10.4.2.1 a; 12.8 of the rulebook. The sanctioning body enacted rules prohibiting drivers from going on track following the death of Kevin Ward Jr. in a sprint car race in 2014.
Busch was fined $10,000 and put on probation for the next four races for failing to meet his media obligations following the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at ACS. Busch lost that race on the last lap due to a blown tire, and on his team radio berated NASCAR for not throwing a caution flag, and said the sanctioning body fixed races.
Several other teams received written warnings:
The No. 19 team failed pre-race LIS inspection twice;
The No. 95 team had a truck trailing arm that didn’t meet spec;
The No. 20 team failed template inspection twice; and
The Nos. 3, 20, 21 and 27 all failed pre-qualifying LIS inspection twice.
