Red Bull Racing’s Kasey Kahne revealed over the holiday weekend that he had undergone knee surgery once again.

The driver stated, via his Twitter account, that he had torn his meniscus (cartilage that helps the joint function correctly) in his knee. The NASCAR Sprint Cup driver also had offseason surgery on both knees.

According to SceneDaily.com, Kahne will not need a backup driver for this weekend’s Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway. The race is Saturday night.

Kahne is 18th in the Sprint Cup standings, 101 points behind leader Carl Edwards.
