Former Formula One driver Takuma Sato has joined the U.S. IndyCar series for the 2010 season.

Sato will drive for KV Racing Technology and will join fellow Japanese driver Hideki Mutoh on the 17-race IndyCar series.

The 33-year-old Sato says Thursday he knows there are difference between Formula One and IndyCar racing, and he'll ``try to learn from each race so that I can perform my best.''

Sato is a veteran of seven Formula One seasons. His best F1 season was in 2004 when he placed eighth in the championship with 34 points on the strength of 10 top-10 finishes including five top-five showings and one podium, placing third at the United States Grand Prix.
