Happy Hour practice results for Bristol Night Race
The Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas took up where they left off Friday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway during the final Happy Hour round of practice before Saturday night’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race.
In the first practice Friday morning, JGR drivers Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin were 1-2.
In Happy Hour, Busch was fastest at 129.684 miles per hour, with quasi-teammate Martin Truex Jr. second at 129.587 mph in the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota. Matt Kenseth was third in another JGR Toyota, ahead of the Wood Brothers Ford of Ryan Blaney and Hamlin’s Toyota.
There were a couple of minor incidents during Happy Hour.
Greg Biffle had a lurid moment when he spun the No. 16 Roush Fenway Ford out coming out of Turn 4, but he kept it off the wall.
Not so lucky was Josh Wise, who had a right-front tire blow, causing him to clout the wall. Wise will have to run a backup car on Saturday night.
The three-round qualifying session is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. ET
