Former driver healing from stab wounds
Former NASCAR driver Joey Arrington was continuing his recovery Wednesday after allegedly being stabbed twice in the chest by his ex-girlfriend in Basset, Va.
Katherine Elaine Mullins, was charged with malicious wounding in relation to Saturday's incident and released on $3,500 bail after turning herself in to the Henry County Sherriff's office on Tuesday, the Martinsville Daily reported.
Arrington, the 54-year-old son of NASCAR driver Buddy Arrington, told police that Mullins, 37, stabbed him after an altercation at his home. He was hospitalized but later released.
He said some of his personal property was also damaged in the incident.
Police later found Mullins' wrecked Chrysler 300 a short distance from his home.
Arrington raced in nine Sprint Cup races between 1974 and 1980, with a best finish of 12th.
