Trevor Bayne is returning to the Wood Brothers Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup entry in 2012.

A team release did not specify the number of races Bayne will compete in, though he will defend his win in the season-opening Daytona 500.

“I’m excited,” Bayne said in a release posted on the Wood Brothers team site. "It’s a big deal for me. It’s what I had hoped for. We’re all excited to be back together.”

Team co-owner Eddie Wood echoed the sentiment.

“It’s taken a long time to get to this announcement, but it’s good to be back together,” Wood said.

“We all wanted to do what was best for Ford Motor Company and its young drivers, and to be sure everybody had a place to race.”

Ford Customer Service Division, and its brands Motorcraft and Quick Lane, will continue to sponsor the team.

FordParts.com will also be an associate sponsor in 2012.
