Complete results from Coca-Cola 600 final practice
This just in: Martin Truex Jr. and the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota are bad fast.
Thursday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Truex claimed the pole for Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600 (FOX, 5:30 p.m. ET) and Saturday he set the fastest speed in the final Happy Hour practice, running 186.387 miles per hour.
And it was a case of the usual suspects on top of the board. Kurt Busch, who led Saturday’s first practice in the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet, was second in Happy Hour, followed by Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
The Fords of Joey Logano and Greg Biffle completed the top five.
In the closing minutes of Happy Hour, Chase Elliott had minor contact with the wall in his No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet. And then the car fell off the jack in the garage. But the damage will not necessitate going to a backup.
