Buescher moving through the ranks
Hi, FOXSports.com! My name is James Buescher and I’ll be driving the No. 11 BigSpot.com Toyota NASCAR Nationwide Series entry this weekend for Braun Racing at Auto Club Speedway.
Last week I made my first start of 2010 with Braun Racing and it was a great experience. I ran some races with those guys back in 2008 and I feel like we picked up right where we left off. I felt our performance last week was great and, had it not been for some bad luck, I think we would have had a great result. We practiced, qualified and ran in the top 10 and I think that’s a testament to how strong the Braun Racing team is.
It feels great to run up front in the Nationwide Series and be a part of a strong organization. I’m really excited to see the talented group of guys from Braun Racing join forces with everyone at Turner Motorsports next year. The first week was great and I feel the second week should go a lot smoother now that we have gotten more used to each other’s communication style.
Looking ahead to this week, Auto Club Speedway is a relatively flat track that is wide and fast. During the race, you will see that the groove really spreads out, giving us a lot of options in terms of the car’s handling. I can search high, low and in the middle of the racetrack for a groove or line that is going to match what my BigSpot.com Toyota will want to do.
There are four or five lanes of racing to choose from at Auto Club Speedway and that makes it fun for us drivers and exciting for the fans to watch the side-by-side racing. I’m looking forward to heading there to see what we can do.
This will be the first time I will be representing BigSpot.com and I’m pretty excited about it. The company has really put a good effort into activating their sponsorship with Braun Racing and it shows with its online presence.
While they haven’t done a lot of races this year, I was already familiar with them and what they do. I think it’s cool you can log onto BigSpot.com and help shape products and services in the future with just a few clicks of a mouse. Hopefully we can help shape their product and service by giving them a great drive on Saturday at Auto Club Speedway.
My crew chief, Stewart Cooper, says we are bringing chassis No. BR44 this weekend and that’s pretty exciting. BR44 is the same chassis that Kasey Kahne ran in Atlanta. Kasey sat on the pole and was running really well before a fender rub forced him into the pits under the green flag. Taking a fast race car is only part of it though. It is still going to be up to me to put the BigSpot.com up front in California.
Thanks for read this week’s Braun Racing blog. See you at the track!
