Are Harvick, Johnson clear favorites for 2015 Sprint Cup title?
After Saturday night's win at Texas Motor Speedway, Jimmie Johnson moved up four spots to fourth in the points. It was his second win, his third top-five finish and his fourth top-10 finish in seven races this season.
In addition to all that, Jimmie joins Kevin Harvick as our only other repeat winner so far in 2015.
Honestly, I think it's a jump ball between these two drivers right now. The most ironic thing if you look at the last six 1.5-mile tracks we've raced at is that they are the two guys who ended up pulling into Victory Lane.
It all started last October in Charlotte where Harvick won. Johnson then won at Texas last November. Kevin came right back and won at Homestead. Jimmie won at Atlanta Motor Speedway this year with Kevin winning then at Las Vegas. As we all know, this back and forth continued with Jimmie winning Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway. The other ironic thing has also been that in all those races that Jimmie won, Kevin was right there in his rear-view mirror.
We all know that these two can win the next 19 races to end the regular season, but when we start race No. 27 at Chicago in late September, they all start with a clean slate as the Chase for the Sprint Cup begins.
