And the hits just keep coming for the Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Labor Day weekend.

The latest team to unveil their retro paint scheme for the big throwback weekend at "The Track Too Tough To Tame" is JTG Daugherty Racing, which will bring this very sharp No. 47 Chevrolet for AJ Allmendinger to drive.

The 'Dinger's paint scheme will pay tribute to Kansas native and NASCAR 1975 Premier Series Rookie of the Year Bruce Hill, who ran a similar package in 1974-77. Allmendinger and Hill will meet for the first time this weekend at Kansas Speedway.

"I really do like the way he drives," Hill said of Allmendinger. "I was kind of proud to watch him race the No. 47 car number. AJ has such great potential. I've seen him run and he is aggressive and that's what you've got to be. I do think he's a pretty good driver. If you are not aggressive, you become irrelevant. I really watch the drivers.

"Of course, I don't know hardly any of them, but I do know Clint Bowyer and Dale Earnhardt Jr.," Hill said. "I know Junior because of his dad. His dad and I were good friends. That's about it. The last really good friend I had that I raced against was Sterling Marlin. Sterling and I were good buddies too. It's interesting to watch. I think AJ does a really good job."

Hill made 100 starts overall in his NASCAR Premier Series career, which spanned from 1974-81. He never won but did register three top-five and 21 top-10 finishes.
